all this time they had me thinking
love's a boat that's slowly sinking
but you made the claim
taking chances, embracing the change
i count my blessings knowing you will take me home,

http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/24/view/5343/barbie-turns-50.html

barbie's body has come under criticism for offering
girls unrealistic expectations of womanhood, and even for
inspiring eating disorders and related pathologies.
barbie performed an array of powerful careers, has a closet
full of couture, a doting metrosexual boyfriend and very little
pressure to marry and procreate. that's why barbie looks pretty
good, for a woman of a certain age. for the 50th anniversary of
barbie, designboom presents a snapshot report with over 100
images of the making of barbie, from a designer's point of view.

I bet you're wondering how I knew
that this would come to an end
he stole your heart from you
so you tossed me out to the wind

I keep pretending not to care
but the winter scent in her hair
compels my hands to do
the things my heart wouldn't dare

I'll keep holding on to you
see no use perfecting lives with strangers
if only you, if only now

and in the twilight of this hour
when fools are mistaken for men
this shadow suits me well
my regrets, I'll face in the end

I'll keep holding on to you
see no use perfecting lives with strangers
if only you, if only now

I'll keep holding on to you
see no use perfecting love with strangers
if only you, if only now

With Strangers

Qualquer dessas coisas cotidianas, anônimas...

One too many goals
That measure out your worth
To seek your weight in gold

Sat by the ivory sill
The further out you look
The further out you'll be

It's not enough to set the terms
If nothing ventured, nothing earned
Though odds are set against

In time, I'll belong to you
It's how it's meant to be

Settled on your own
Sweepind dust from stones
With a letter home

Back where the hour's long
The simplest things invite a thrill
If just by noticing at will

It's not enough to set the terms
If nothing ventured, nothing earned
It's how it's always been

In time, I'll belong to you
That's how it's meant to be
And how it's always been

The next time around
(little joy)

Surprise, sometimes, will come around
Surprise, sometimes, will come around
I will surprise you sometime.
I'll come around
Oh, I will surprise you sometime.
I'll come around when you're down...

Andy Council uses his drawing skills and love of detail to create bizarrely intricate collections of creatures; from rabbits made of tanks to dinosaurs mobilized by "lots of stuff". His work has huge visual impact and draws the viewer closer into a bright and distorted world.

He was trained in the traditional techniques of animation and drawing, influenced by Miyazaki and Geoff Darrow amongst others.

He taught himself digital techniques and now uses a combination of graphics, line drawing, ink and paint pen. Not content with screen or paper, Andy is now assaulting windows of Bristol with his unique menagerie.

His client list includes The Guardian - Guide, Money and The Comic, Leo & Burnett, Avvio, Random House, Orange, Resource Futures and Interni magazine.

Imagine being charged for a glass of tap water in a restaurant the next time you sit down to dine. But most of you will willingly fork out for it. Without hesitation. Such is the power of advertising guru David Droga, the man behind the inception of the Tap Project. Proving that advertising can indeed have a soul, the proceeds gained from the sale of water went to UNICEF’s efforts to bring clean water to at least a billion people but the awareness raised and spurring citizens of the world to do good for this worthy cause was priceless.

With the awards and trophies he has scooped up since his foray into the industry, including more than 50 Cannes Lions, 3 Grand Prix and 2 Titanium awards, we are very sure that they would fill up an entire wall of shelves. One of the most creatively interesting people around, we admire and respect his vision to work with real and socially responsible businesses that matter, creating sustainable ideas for the good of mankind.

We manage to sit this single most-awarded creative down in our TAXI to speak about his thoughts on the advertising industry and his passion for his work. Enjoy the ride.

Stencil Inspiration: Easter AIG hunt by ABOVE.

The street artist Above has just finished a huge stencil art with a very clear critic to the AIG executives and their greed. He believes that it is his best stencil work ever. If he says so, who am I to disagree? Check it out because it's awesome.

At the Minibar you’ll be welcomed by a receptionist, checked in and given a key to your own personal minibar.

Concrete completed Minibar, a bar in Amsterdam where one checks in at the reception desk and gets a key to their own minibar.

The founding concept for the Minibar was created by three Dutch friends, who were looking for a different way of having a drink. No more queuing, trying to catch the bartenders eye, or being ignored at the bar, but a comprehensive selection of drinks taken at your own pace, from your own personal minibar.

The 4 metre high wooden façade of a former wood factory on the Prinsengracht in Amsterdam was restored, based on pictures found in archives. To preserve a feeling of space and history, but to keep the weather out when the doors are folded open, a glass façade has been placed about 1.5m further inside the building.

The contrast of raw and luxury is best experienced as a journey through the bar. Check in at the concrete reception desk with concrete floor and walls, get your minibar key and move into the oak woodblock floor, stainless steel fridges, and leather couch. Enjoy the digitally projected wallpaper adding vibrancy and an ever-changing world of animation across one wall.

Guardar, guardar, guardar...

guardar uma coisa
não é escondê-la ou tranca-la
em cofre não se guarda nada
em cofre perde-se a coisa vista

Guardar uma coisa é
olhá-la, fitá-la, mirá-la por admira-la
isto é
ilumina-la ou ser por ela iluminado

estar acordado por ela
estar por ela
ou ser por ela.

Guardar...
